Today is a special day for numerologists, when the number of the day of the month plus the number of the month of the year sums to the number of the year of the century,¹ i.e., 12+12=24. The next time this occurs will be on 1 January 2102.

Tomorrow’s numerical hazard: For those who suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia, best not walk under ladders or allow a black cat to cross your path on Friday the 13^th.

1. * We could have phrased this as “the number of completed years of the century,” because many contend that the number of the year of the century should be counted from zero rather than one. I agree that 2024 is the 25^th year of the 21^st century, but we don’t write our dates that way.
